The Looooong van ride!

lindsey and sarah with me at the beginning of the trip while we were still friends ;-) (note in the background, abby was taking advantage of the last few minutes before the phones were confiscated. Coach believes cell phones distract from team bonding in the van)

The lady comets volleyball team traversed the entire western half of the United States last weekend for the NIAC tournament. Thankfully, there were no casualties! I (maria) made it safely from Ankeny, Iowa to Ellendale, North Dakota, then back to Owatonna Minnesota! ok, so maybe it wasn't quite the entire western half of the USA, but it was a pretty long trek. No worries, instead of causing divisions among the sisters (as a van ride with a bunch of girls is prone to do), it provided many hours of team bonding. MANY HOURS !

Hopefully that bonding included some studying (and quizzing each other so you would be ready for classes?!!)in addition to stellar team volleyball. Right!
We are so glad that you are happy playing as a team and part of such a nice group of young ladies.
Now doesn't that sound like a comment from an old fogey!

And old fogeys we are! It's looking more attractive all the time. Yikes!

What fun, Maria - so glad you are. . . what Daddy just said.

I love that picture of the team - you girls are beautiful inside and out.

Melanie, the policy is actually pretty common on sports teams. Of course I have vast experience myself.

Mom, no matter how much you defend her, you can NOT deny that she is wierd. And that's the bottom line

No, no, Melanie! We're all a little weird! Now Ralph will want to tell me to speak for myself again. OK, OK, so maybe I am sympathetic about weird people because I am weird.
