Teton and Yellowstone National Parks

My parents, Melanie and I spent three days riding through Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We had a great time and the Lord blessed us with good weather and great scenery!

The Teton Mountain Range

Traffic Jam in Yellowstone National Park.

Melanie gets a little nervous being this close to the buffalo when we are on the motorcycle.

A nice bull elk in Mammoth scratching his back.

Melanie and I got onto this BIG Grizzly Bear while riding through Yellowstone. We had to walk a couple hundred yards to get to where we could see it and it was still about 200 yards away from us. He was munchin on a buffalo carcass.

We were definitely ready for a new post -- and a great one at that!
Wow! Mom & I only wish we were with you on your little escapade. The scenery is beautiful -- and then the wildlife, Exceptional!
Thanks for posting.
We love you guys and miss you. Seeing you on the blog makes the miles seem a little less.

That buffalo looks massive! And I have never seen such a huge rack as on that elk. How exciting to see the grizzly, and I'm relieved you were no closer than that, and that the bear was very busy! Thanks for posting!

Nice to see your folks, too. Looks like a great time.

And I have to say, Melanie, that you and Dawn are the most feminine biker chicks I've ever seen!

I want to go to Yellowstone! Those are some awesome pictures. God is cool :-)

As Uncle Jim said, "it was time for a new post". It got to the point of depressing when I would come to visit the blog and I would still be seeing the same post! Rick to the rescue! Those are AMAZ-ZA-ZING pictures!
(I especially liked that bear one!)

Melanie, I'm with you...I'd be a little nervous being that close to a buffalo on just a motorcycle. What awesome pictures and ditto Melissa, God's creation is way cool!

If I were there, I'd be tempted to throw a saddle on that buffalo and ride him into town!
How cool that you guys get to see all of that. The only "wildlife" we see is Philly sewer rats or large groups of geese!

Oops...the Blog-Marm is going to be all over me for that one. I think that last sentence required an "are" as opposed to an "is"!!

Hey Melissa! When are you going to post some new pics on your blog???

At September 17, 2006 7:05 PM, Blogger Aunt Char said...

Are you just too busy, Melissa? I've been checking, too.

Don't you see deer, too, SNL? We see lots of deer, and we have lovely birds in our yard. In Philly you have to focus on the small wildlife, of the natural variety anyway. We won't talk about the other sort - of which there is plenty!

Welcome back SNL aka...sara in the city! I was wondering about you and your lack of blogging, and 'R'
too, we miss you girls!

Good Grief! SNL, I think that Street is enough of an animal to count him as wildlife as well; I think he would fall into the swine category. I think you could pretty much put all of city hall in that category. Hey everyone, I was listening to NPR this past weekend and I heard that a Bob Nelson has been missing since the end of august, he was last seen in a small town of southern Minnesota. if anyone has seen this man please contact search personnel immediately. So far the search helicopters have revealed nothing. I’m not lying that was the report. So Uncle Bob, come out of hiding!

WOW! Awesome pictures... both incredibly beautiful and incredibly discusting (the last one)! Looks like so much fun! I'm still dreaming of one day getting out there to see you guys!! Hopefully soon!!!

Don't get too concerned about Bobert! He probably's snuggled down somewhere with a gallon of ice-cream surfing through the channels on some random television!

and it's so nice to know I've been missed on the blog... especially by a Jerry (only you Laura:-)!

Laura...always a sweetie! I have been super swamped at work as I am working hard towards a big event I'm managing in San Diego in two weeks. Plus, my classes started again. I take 5 week super accelerated courses, which suck up every bit of free time. AUGH!!! I think I've become Starbucks #1 customer!!!

I'm glad you all like the pictures! I wish you could all come out and enjoy it with us! Sorry about the graphic picture R. Melanie and I are heading back to the park this week. We just can't get enough! The elk are in the peak of their rut so we want to get in on that! I think we will have a very KEEN time!

I caught that! Rick must be pretty excited about his KEENS!

You're a turd Uncle Jeff... YEP! You read that right... a TURD!

You know, Jeff, the rest of us earned awards, too, but you don't see us referring to them CONSTANTLY! Now it's true, you won the biggie, and we all congratulate and admire you, but if you want to keep bragging about your facade of humility, you must exhibit it ONCE in a while!

Not to mention my award or anything, but I was so pleased to see Jim spell "definitely" correctly! If we all remember the root is "finite" it may help us spell "definite" correctly.

It is encouraging though... I never knew he possessed such a talent... he's PERFECTED the one-stringed-fiddle!!!

LOL!!!

As I "plunge" into this post having just "sat" for a moment "thinking" about having been called a "TURD" I just want you all to know that it "stinks". I "tried hard" to be kind and "wipe" the slate clean, "but" those dreams have just been "flushed" down the "toilet". Because "R" has just put this Blog in the "sewer", I think I may just "wash my hands" of the whole thing. Now I know what it feels like to "go" from the penthouse to the "outhouse". Thanks "r"!

Oh, by the way, you can't have a "TURD" without "R" in it!

And this is why, sadly, he is MVP. He's so clever!

hey! At least your wash'n your hands sometime bud;-)!

At September 21, 2006 7:28 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wow, I went away for a little bit and when I come back the best "R" can do is call the "MVB" a turd and "LOL" at her own strange fiddle joke? Hmmm, at that point I don't know if I would continue trying make fun of anyone. I think thats when you call it a day, go home and put on your brown sweater and take pictures of youself washing your dog. I just hope "R" doesn't pull out the ol' trump "Doo-doo brains" name calling next.

Ahhh! Thank you ever so much for the kind reminder of my favorite brown sweater! The air is turning crisp and Autumn is quickly approaching which means THE BROWN SWEATER can once again charm the blog!

Ooooohh... la-la! I can't wait!

And back to what's really important;-)...

Joe's coming in two weeks! I can't wait! I'm definately not a fan of this long-distance nonsense!! I don't think "the big news" will be this time!!! But you know I'll be posting all about it when it does happen:-)!!!

Way to be prepared Uncle Jeff! My theory has always been to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. With "R" spewing her vicious name-calling comments, I too am ready with the infamous "I know you are but what am I" comeback. I know its a real dandy. I hate to use that one so quick but with "R" setting the bar so high so early in the game, I figured its my only choice.

Sending out a big "hey dere" to all the Jerry's, eh!

u/c_bro5-0, how rude of you to single out the Jerrys and not say hi to the Jims, Shirls, Ralphs, Carols and Davids!

And with your acute powers of observation, how could you miss Jeff's new talent on the fiddle - himself!

Himself and his MVB award, that is.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

What an intelligent response! Are you afraid to admit your rudeness?

And the truth is never lame!
