We are a group of cousins (firsts, seconds, thirds, fourths...) who at our great-grandmothers funeral decided to stay in touch despite the hurdles of distance and lifes business! Through the example of our Great Grandparents, Grandparents and Parents we have learned the importance of family. So may the lines and (typed) keys of communication remain busy! I love you guys!!!

Yeah, according to aunt gin, we shouldn't have even eaten the cake, cause it was too dry and hard and the only thing it could be useful for would be a cake fight. It somehow tasted fabulous, as lois always does. Nothin like lois with that silky butter frosting and the chocolate drizzle makes it even more decadent and wonderful aint that right R?
AWWWWW... Looks like fun.... wish I could be there.... going swimming at the beach on Sat. :)
yum yum! I just gained 5 pounds just drooling over those pictures! Cute picture of Maria & James too!
Leave it to Ginny to spoil Maria with not one, but two birhday cakes. How do you rate Maria? Love the "Pillsbury Doughboy cake"! If Lois Johnson only knew how much birthday joy she's brought "the Jim's" over the years.
Karen
Thanks Ginny for keeping the tradition alive. Loved the Pillsbury Doughboy shape!
Nothing about that cake looked dry and hard. I think I'll have a piece.
As to swimming, Silly -- Char & I have to stick to the local pool in this sub freezing weather -- so stop gloating.
Ginny, you are so wonderful to the kids - they won't want to come home!! Your failures are better than my best efforts, believe me. Thanks so much for spoiling them a little. We owe you. Will any of your kids be coming east for school?? Then we can pay you back.
Surf Ja-Amours is just too kind! My attempt at making Louis J.'s in the Pills Dough Boy mold didn't work so well. Despite it not coming out of the mold other than in clumps, we frosted it to cover up the failure! The other cake was ... should I say...
yes, I confess, it was a box cake so Karen, don't give me too much credit. Besides, I do need to mention that Jess helped me frost the Dough Boy.
Such a shame, UJ, but communication would help. The kids had classes all day Friday, and did not know you were there Monday, too! But I'm thinking you wouldn't have anything but a delicious lunch even if the truck would be cold.
Well, now we know the prob, Ginny. You made Louis J.'s instead of Lois Johnson's!
both cakes were DELICIOUS!!!! the lois was divine! and the doughboy was greatly enjoyed. well, at least i enjoyed what little i tasted of it after the rest of the girl's dorm scarffed up the majority. i'm tellin you, all you have to say is "so my aunt made me a cake" and suddenly your room feels like a soup kitchen with lines of pathetic characters hoping for a morsel of something tastey!
UJ, so sorry we never stopped by. i was gonna give a long excuse which included work, loads of homework and classes all day, BUT who am i kidding? DID YOU MAKE ME A CAKE? sorry, but the choice was clear!
And the pig eatin cake made famous by the Jerrys at BL uses a mix. I made it tonight for a church dinner and it was a big hit.
