Bass Lake - Years Past
Martin Family,
In thinking about Bass Lake being just around the corner, I realize that I am grateful for a lot of things. I thank the Lord for the Godly heritage of our family. I am thankful for great grandparents that absolutely loved spending time with their family and beamed when they saw you, even after a short time apart. I am thankful that my parents, even though they may not have enjoyed it, brought me to Bass Lake year in and year out. The time I spent with my extended family will never be forgotten. I am thankful for those who carry on a long-standing tradition, honoring their parents/grandparents/great grandparents and showing that it wasn't just something to do every summer. Finally, I am thankful for this family. I may not see you, talk to you, or hardly even know some of you, but I know that we have a love that spans those divides to draw us closer to each other and to God.
Love,
Joel Ham

Thanks for the post Joel! I love Bass Lake!!! there is nothing like it in the world! Everytime I tell my friends about going to "family camp" they act sorry for me but im quick to correct them, "I LOVE it!!!" No other family I know spends time with thier extended family the way we do!!! Thanks to everyone who continues to come every year and allows it to remain a tradition in our family!
Well done Elizabeth! Spoken from the the heart of a 3rd generation Bass Laker!
In fact, I believe Elizabeth is a 4th generation Bass Laker! Thanks, Elizabeth - and thanks, Joel for a great post. Love the pictures - great memories, with more to be made. Aunt Char
I wonder if this will work now - I've tried before with the Google. If it does - yay!
Thanks for those kind words about stinky ole Bass Lake Joel! We carry on the "Martin Tradition" of story telling and much exageration about the trials we bare but I wouldn't trade the memories of our wonderful family and all the fun, food and fellowship for anything! Thanks for the pix. They warm my heart. Hope to see you there with your lovely wife and the newest member of the family.
Thanks for taking the time to put that collage of memories together. We do have wonderful memories and look forward to new ones from those gathering this summer.
Aww! My favorite-- Bass Lake!! I'm SUPER sad I won't be able to go this year! I hope everyone has FUN!!! And know that I'll be missing you... the food... the scrumptious cookies... the pee-beds... and the mice infested cabins;-)!!!
(I think part of the fun for us Martins is making it sound 'oh so horrible'... while all the while-- loving it to death;-)!!
Well done Joel...bravo! bravo!
Seeing those pictures just sends tingles down my spine! How I miss Great Grandma & Grandpa...what a classy lady that grandma was and grandpa had such a calming presence about him...what a legacy they've created.
'Their children arise and call them blessed'. We truly are blessed!
I'm so sad I missed Family Camp (aka Cookie Camp). I want to hear all the stories!!!!!
Well Sara! R and I both had electrifying shower experiences!! There was a short in the wiring, so when I touched the shower knob, I was doing the jerky lerky! It did really wake me up and get me going for the day!
We had a great turn out this year and saw many relatives that we hadn't seen in years, so that was fun. Lots of cookies and good food too as one would expect! We missed you Sar and hope you can make it next year. P.S. The pee green water was almost thick enough to stand on this year...would have been good for the ol' algae spa though...just ask Char!
