Martin Clan
We are a group of cousins (firsts, seconds, thirds, fourths...) who at our great-grandmothers funeral decided to stay in touch despite the hurdles of distance and lifes business! Through the example of our Great Grandparents, Grandparents and Parents we have learned the importance of family. So may the lines and (typed) keys of communication remain busy! I love you guys!!!

I LOVE it!!!! The BOOxbys!! I was wondering if anyone was going to post costume pictures. Nice work!
My personal favorites are Joel & Sandy. Their costumes made me question...are they hillbillies or rednecks and is there really a difference? So, I googled it and here's what I found:
"There are a few subtle differences. The Common Redneck will own a pickup truck with curtains in it where the common Hillbilly's home will be up on blocks with the tires stolen. The Rednecks family tree has branches. the Hillbilly's family tree does not branch out at all period. A Redneck will carry a bottle of water when walking in the desert. A Hillbilly will carry an old car door so that if he gets hot he can just roll the window down to cool off. Generally a Redneck will have 5 or more teeth where as a hillbilly will have no more then one which will be brown."
I'll let you all determine if they are hillbillies or rednecks.
But really...is one better then the other???
r u talkin bout dat der cupple that jus came in plane ole close n dint even drez up? Sum uv us spent good 'baco mony on dem dere custooms an den dey shows up in nuttin but der regulars. Made me mad when dey wun first prize, too.
LOL!! This is GREAT! I love the costumes-- looks like you guys had a lot of fun!
Sara... thanks for continuing to make the blog a source of valuable learning!! One never knows what goodies will be learned when navigating to our site!
I believe that Joel and Sandy were actually going as NASCAR fans so that should clear up the debate.
What a hoot! Wish we'd been there. Thanks for sharing all your fun!
Trust me, as someone who lives in redneck territory - joel and sandy were rednecks. They would've fit in great with some of the trailer folks around here. The definite give away was the tummy shirt on joel. A hillbilly would've covered that up with overalls!
It was a blast. Maybe we could do 'costume night at Lake Bass'! :-)
Hillary was a little annoying all evening begging for money and things.....Bill is excited to become 'first laddie'. :-)
Wish you ALL could have come. You'd have made our costumes look pitiful!!!
We were wishing Jill and Ginny Ann and Karen could have been here to tell us the SPOOOOOKY ghost stories that only THEY can tell!
;-)
I wish we could've all come. It would've been a blast! But I am not good at coming up with costume ideas!
Joel and Sandy - You guys look great!! It really is a good look for you guys. I really like the DARE tummy shirt and the jorts!
GIT-R-DONE!!!
Thanks so much - you guys are hilarious! I'm laughing away here, learning all about rednecks and hillbillies.
Surely SOMEone captured Hill and Bill and can post - we're waiting.
Looks like Susan and Kenny went as real estate agents, Right?
Well it looks like too much fun was had by all. I would have loved to have listened in on Jackie O's analysis of Bill and Hill.
